Livable Housing
Livable
housing is one of our most well known and appreciated services. Deep
Well has a dedicated group of volunteers who perform needed repairs
on an individual “needs basis.” All kinds of services are considered
from roof repair or bathroom repair to handicapped access!
Our team, headed by Deep Well's Rita Jones, investigates requests for help with any type of home repair and determines need and availability. Often, this work is done as a donated service but on other occasions the client will be asked to help with payment.

Volunteers repair a rotted-out kitchen floor
All situations are researched and determined in a fair manner. Many of the materials used come from donations that are stored in the Livable Housing "Pantry". Light fixtures, cabinets, electrical switches and outlets, wire, piping, paint, fasteners and the like are carefully sorted and organized for use on upcoming projects. Labor, apart from Rita’s time is donated and volunteers logged 2,474 hours last year repairing homes to make them "livable".
We also collect and receive donated furniture and appliances. It is them provided to those who cannot afford it from the same Livable Housing "Pantry". Over 550 clients were helped with furniture last year.
